We highly recommend you do not buy any ticket to random people that usually get on tourist buses, because the services they offer (such as hotel, tours, transportation) may not be provided. They are usually called “coyotes” since they try to sell you services and get the money and do not provide the service, they are not even authorized to operate. Be careful! (we are sorry for this inconvenient but we have to advice our guests in advance)
NOTICE:
The Tikal entrance fee ticket is purchasable at BANRURAL (a local bank with locations all over Guatemala) so we recommend to seek for this bank once you enter Guatemala territory and buy directly your ticket through this bank. The ticket you choose is valid for 30 days starting from the day you purchased it, you’ll find three different options:
Tikal Sunrise entrance fee Q.100.00 valid from 4 am a 7 am,
Tikal Regular entrance fee Q.150.00 valid from 6:00 am a 6:00 pm,
Tikal Sunset entrance fee Q.100.00 valid from 6:00 pm a 8:00 pm.
Once you get your ticket at the bank, you have to carry with the receipt of your payment and show it at the Tikal entrance, in order to the guards put a bracelet on your wrist.
Take into account that if you take the SUNRISE tour (you must enter Tikal in Company with a guide or an arranged tour) and you want to stay longer in the park, you have to pay Q.100.00 (sunrise entrance fee + regular entrance fee) + Q.150.00 = Q.250.00 (total entrance fee for sunrise)
